Creating a Thumbnail for YouTube Videos with Branding Layers using Adobe Photoshop

Consider a layer a photo, when you stack several of them together; you will have multiple photos combined as layers. With that in mind what you need to do with photoshop is have a layer per every piece of content you like to display on your video thumbnail.

With my example which is not limited to anyone as you can get creative in your own way, I wanted to have the main photo in the background as the primary focus; and then adding other elements to the photo such as a bar on the bottom with the name of the video was very simple.

If you are like me where you began the project of your thumbnail on the desktop, then later you want it to finish it up in the laptop; everything is there for you as long as both computers have creative cloud installed.

When I begin to create a photo design in photoshop, my habit is to create all my layers first as part of my creative brainstorming process if you will; then I save it to the cloud for later when I'm actually ready to work on it.

Sometimes working in the moment on a thumbnail idea is faster to gather it all together fast into layers. Then later on when you ready to finalize your vision then just pull up photoshop and open your project to finish up.
