Preparing Hostgator cPanel for Migration to Transfer Email and Domain plus Database Records

STORY

 toThe goal of this video is to first create the exact records you have on the old hostgator cpanel or any other hosting provider for that matter, over to your new hosting cpanel in the exact same manner in which they are on the current hosting account; you do this by creating your emails and adding your domains as well as importing the wordpress database for your websites.

Begin with creating the exact list of domains you had on the old cpanel, or at least only do the ones you like to keep as now may be a good good time to start with a new cpanel; make sure that you add both the .com and the .net if you have those or whicher in relation as that will matter later in the video covering the redirects.

I have created individual videos that I plan to upload soon showing each of the steps you need to complete for the migration to be a success, keep in mind that the LAST THING you do is point your DNS Records as shown on my last video part of this series; doing this before all records have been recreated will cause a major downtime.

Move forward with creating all the emails per domain you need over to the new cpanel account, it’s important that you create the exact prefix@domain as that will be required to allow the emails to come in once the dns change is made.

Each video I will be uploading will cover an individual step to the cpanel migration using hostgator as the hosting provider, from recreating original email accounts, to even the existing domains you had; also I will cover how to import back all wordpress database records as well.

You are now safe to create each of the mysql databases that you had, do so individually for the wordpress websites you want to migrate over to the new cpanel; it’s recommended that you give it a custom name to help you later identify which belong for what website rather than relying on the default one created by wordpress installation wizard.
