Installing Windows 10 from Bootable ISO USB Drive on Microsoft Surface 3 Tablet

STORY

Windows 10 on your surface 3 computer was an awesome development by microsoft, annoying though when is time to install windows again on a tablet that does not support a dvd drive; and that is when a usb drive may just be your only or at least your easiest way to repair your surface.

Assuming you are watching this video because your windows 10 no longer wants to boot, or maybe like me your reason is that you want a fresh install to help remove all the preloaded crap that comes with it; in doing so regardless of the option is going to allow your internal storage to free up a bit more.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that the touch feature on the surface will not work during the installation of windows 10, and for that reason you will need a wireless keyboard; and in addition a usb hub as well so you can connect everything you need during install such as the usb drive with windows 10 iso and of course the keyboard with built in trackpad for you to make selections.

The steps i shared in this video will guide you from the moment you have the usb drive down to the installation wizard for windows 10, choosing which drive to install it on and also what to do next so you install it correctly; the trick may just be booting the usb manually by pressing the assigned key on your surface to do so.

Creating a bootable usb drive with windows 10 installation files is the tricky part which I did not get a chance to cover in this video, however please consider downloading the microsoft media creator tool and then creating the iso image all at once that way; this method may be longer and may not be guarantee considering that at times the microsoft servers may be down or the version of windows available may not be the one supported for your surface.

That is when I recommend your very own usb thumb drive with a reloaded copy of windows 10, even buying your own usb without it just alone to keep handy and then creating the iso file using the poweriso software mentioned; your time is cut in half and you able to use these tools for future needs.

Once you have booted the usb and installed your windows 10, you will only need to download all the drivers for the internal hardware which many are not detected or supported by the copy of windows; and you will need the microsoft package for the microsoft surface 3 for all your hardware to work such as the wireless and the touch screen plus others like the sound and so on.
